It took a lot of time and energy, but with a great result: in mid-August, Flitsmeister introduced real-time information from variable message signs in the Flitsmeister app. The 1.3 million users of the app are generally very positive, notices Flitsmeister director Jorn de Vries, who is already looking ahead at next steps.

The first simulation results with intelligent traffic lights on the N201 road are promising: the flow of traffic between Uithoorn and Vreeland can be improved by up to 25%. Intelligent traffic control systems can recognise oncoming traffic via apps and navigation systems, and can respond to real-time traffic volume. Goedopweg uses intelligent traffic control systems to improve the flow of traffic in order to keep the Utrecht region liveable and accessible.

Starting next autumn, those involved in traffic management and road management will be able to experience how Talking Traffic’s new services work in practice during a special bus tour in their own region. Together with regional authorities, the Talking Traffic Partnership is organising a Road Show, which involves a customised bus tour in several regions. Met de Design Battle nodigt Talking Logistics bedrijven, al of niet in combinatievorm, uit om een zelfrijdend containerchassis uit te werken tot een basis voor een prototype-ontwerp.

Naast data over reguliere openingstijden van bruggen en sluizen, komt er steeds meer dynamische data beschikbaar over real-time openingstijden. Inmiddels leveren 120 bruggen deze nuttige informatie voor scheepvaart en wegverkeer en dat aantal groeit wekelijks. In de laatste week van mei kwamen er weer negen bruggen bij.
